Mrs. Stephanie Schafer
Head of School
Stephanie Schafer joined the BCS staff in 2018 as the Head of School. She spent her entire life in sunny Southwest Florida. After much prayer, her family knew that God was calling them to Charleston, West Virginia to be part of Bible Center School and Church. Stephanie received her B.A. in Communication from Palm Beach Atlantic University and her M.Ed. in Administration and Supervision from Liberty University. She has been part of Christian education for 21 years as both teacher and administrator.
She has been married to her husband, Joey, for 21 years and they have a son, Dylan, in the ARMY and daughter, Halle who is working toward being a first responder. Stephanie loves leading the staff and students at Bible Center School as they fulfill God’s agenda for each of their lives.
Mrs. Emily King
Assistant Principal
Emily joined the BCS staff in 2019 as the Assistant Principal. She grew up in Columbus, Ohio, attended Word of Life Bible Institute, and then graduated from Appalachian Bible College where she met her husband, John. Emily and John have 3 girls: Allison, Alana, and Abigail. They previously served with ministries in Argentina, Florida, Ohio, and California. It was during their 5 years in California that Emily fell in love with Special Needs Ministries.
Emily has over 10 years of experience in education, having worked in both elementary and high school settings. Her expertise, combined with her passion for helping students with learning differences reach their full potential, is making a significant impact and is positively shaping their educational journeys.
Mrs. Machelle Huffman
Director of Early Learning
Machelle joined Bible Center Preschool in 1993. She was a 4-year-old teacher for 23 years and Transitional Kindergarten teacher for 1 year before taking on the role as Director in 2017. Machelle graduated from West Virginia State College with a degree in Education. She and her husband are involved in youth ministry at their church.
Machelle is the mother of 2 daughters, both of whom attended Bible Center School. She is also Gigi to 3 active grandsons and 1 granddaughter and she loves to spend time with them!
Mrs. Cindy Clark
Preschool Assistant Director
Cindy began working at Bible Center Preschool in October of 1983 under its very first director, Jean Darlington. Over the years she has served in many roles, including Aide, Teacher and Administrative Assistant. In 2010 she became the Assistant Preschool Director. Cindy and her husband, Roger (maintenance staff at the school), have 6 children and 16 grandchildren.
Cindy has seen many children come through the doors at Bible Center, who are now grown, sending their own children to BS. She believes each child who has ever come through the doors of the Bible Center has been by God’s design and that it’s our responsibility to help nurture the potential within each of them.
Miss Christy Corbin
Math & Middle School Supervisor
Christy had the desire to teach since she was a little girl watching her dad teach, and her middle and high school teachers fostered her love of math and learning. Christy attended Bob Jones university and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics education. She has served in various ministries and organizations as a teacher, service programing coordinator, administrative assistant, human resources director and coach.
Christy attends Bible Center Church, where she enjoys serving in the production department. She also has a passion for baking and loves traveling with her friends, visiting her family, and spending time with her puppy, Watson.
Mr. Ted Williams
Dean of Students & Middle School Bible
Ted graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. in Biology and has 22 years of teaching experience at the middle and high school levels. His favorite subjects to teach have always been Science and Bible. Ted is an ordained minister and has served as a school chaplain, youth pastor, missions pastor, and pastor to college students in Florida. His passions are teaching Biblical worldview and mentoring students.
He and his wife, Ashley, have 2 children, Jackson and Macie. They are all native Floridians. They felt God calling them to join the Bible Center team in 2018 and made the long journey north. Ted loves the natural beauty of the mountains and enjoys exploring this “wild and wonderful” state.
